MAX is Ocala's first art incubator, in the historic Union Station: private studios where emerging artists build their careers, and galleries, classes and events where everyone else can watch art being made and meet the people making it.
What MAX does
An incubator, for art
A business incubator gives a young company a desk, advice and a network until it can stand on its own. MAX does the same for artists. Emerging artists get a private studio, mentorship, exhibitions and a community of other artists, at a price a working artist can afford — and the public gets a front-row seat.
Why it matters
Great work needs somewhere to happen
When Ocala's artists were asked what they needed, they did not ask for applause. They asked for affordable studios, for help with the business of art, for places to show and sell their work, and for doors that open outside office hours. MAX exists because of those answers.
The goal is not only to show finished work, but to build the conditions where good work can emerge — and to keep a landmark of Ocala's history busy with the city's creative life.

The building
A 1916 railway station, full of art
MAX lives in Ocala Union Station, built in 1916 and on the National Register of Historic Places. The old waiting room is now Salon A, lined with resident studios; its tile floors, windows and woodwork are the originals.
Walk through it room by room, see where each artist works, or hold an event of your own in it — three hours among the art, from $150.

Keep the doors open
MAX is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Every gift, sponsorship and membership keeps studios affordable for artists and the doors open to everyone else.
