Join the Board of the Magnolia Art Xchange
Help shape the future of the arts in Ocala.
Our Mission
The Magnolia Art Xchange (MAX) is Ocala’s nonprofit art incubator, dedicated to supporting emerging artists at critical stages of their development. Through our Resident Artist Program, we provide studio space, regular gallery exhibition opportunities, educational programming, mentorship, and networking — all within an affordable membership structure.
We exist to help artists build sustainable creative practices, and to give the public more direct access to the creative process. Our goal isn’t just to showcase finished work — it’s to cultivate the conditions where great work can emerge.
This Moment
As we enter our 10th year, MAX is poised for major growth. We’re located just north of downtown, in an area undergoing significant revitalization and investment. Our aim is to become the cultural hub for this fast-changing part of the city — a place where new energy, bold ideas, and community engagement converge.
To match this momentum, we’re rolling out several new initiatives:
The Commitment
Board membership at MAX is hands-on and mission-driven. We’re building a team that’s excited to show up, dig in, and help guide the organization through this next chapter.
Here’s what board service entails:
In addition to time and presence, we ask that each board member take responsibility for contributing or helping to raise at least $500 annually, either through direct donations, in-kind contributions, or outreach to their networks. As a nonprofit, our ability to serve artists depends on the generosity and commitment of the people who believe in our mission.
Why It Matters
Serving on the MAX board is more than a governance role — it’s a chance to help shape the cultural fabric of Ocala in a meaningful, lasting way.
We’re building something ambitious: a home for emerging artists, a platform for bold creative voices, and a space where the arts are not just seen, but lived. At MAX, creativity isn’t an afterthought — it’s central to how we imagine a thriving, connected community. We believe artists are essential to that vision, and we’re committed to giving them the tools, visibility, and support they need to grow.
This work takes heart. It takes people who care about access, equity, experimentation — and who are ready to roll up their sleeves to create something that didn’t exist before.
If that vision resonates with you, we hope you’ll consider applying. We’d be excited to welcome you into the work — and into a team that’s passionate about making Ocala a city where the arts aren’t just supported, but celebrated.

- Conductors Club – a new VIP tier for patrons to show ongoing support and stay more closely connected to the mission
- MAX Alumni Club – reconnecting with our past residents to strengthen our long-term creative ecosystem
